2011 Honor Award Gala

On May 17, 2011, the National Building Museum celebrated 25 years of its annual Honor Award gala. Approximately 600 guests came together to reflect on the achievements of past recipients and looked to the possibilities of the next 25 years of innovation in the building arts.

Guests included distinguished officials from the General Services Administration, the government of the District of Columbia, the Council on Environmental Quality, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Capital Planning Commission, the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, and the United States House of Representatives.

Gala attendees enjoyed an inspiring keynote address by David Rockwell, founder and CEO of Rockwell Group. The program and dinner were followed by the Dessert Extravaganza which featured Build Up!, an exciting interactive installation designed by the LAB at Rockwell Group, a special appearance by dancers from Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, and a performance by a band from the New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village (the founders of which were 2010 Honor Award recipients).

If you weren’t able to attend the gala, you can still help us reach the goal of $1 million to support the Museum’s acclaimed exhibitions and education programs.
