Discover your inner engineer!

 

The Museum’s hands-on, instructive Discovery Carts offer educational fun for the entire family.

Bridging the Gap

During this interactive demonstration, participants learn about five basic bridge types before solving a transportation problem by choosing a type of bridge to build.

Saturdays, 10:30-11:00 am. Most appropriate for ages 5 and up.

Arches and Trusses: The Tension Builds

Discover how building forces, materials and structures affect strength and longevity. Participants test different building materials and work together to build an arch.

Sundays, 11:30 am-12:00 pm. Most appropriate for ages 5 and up.

The National Building Museum's Discovery Carts are FREE and no reservations are required for individuals and groups fewer than 10. All Discovery Carts are subject to cart facilitator availability. To schedule a Discovery Cart for groups of 10 or more, please see Custom Tours for more information.
