Building in the Aftermath

Building in the Aftermath Related Audio

Building in the Aftermath was originally created in November of 2001, in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Over the course of more than a year, the National Building Museum presented public programs, symposia, and exhibitions, providing a forum for creative, informed public dialogue and debate in response to the tragic event. After the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, the Museum resumed the series to again foster public debate about the challenges of rebuilding and the implications for architecture, engineering, preservation, and urbanism.

The Building in the Aftermath series focused on rebuilding after Huricanne's Katrina and Rita is sponsored by Lafarge North America, the American Planning Association, and the American Society of Landscape Architects.
