Panelists explore the history of Pierre L’Enfant’s plan for Washington, D.C. and how the plan influences the look and feel of the city today. The panel will examine some of L’Enfant’s unrealized concepts, such as the idea to have states adopt squares across the city. This program complements the exhibition Unbuilt Washington, which will be open for viewing before the lecture. The exhibition closes May 28.
