Hours & Amenities

The National Building Museum is open to the public Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Museum is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. On rare occasions, the Museum may close for a special event.

Admission is free. A donation of $5 per person is suggested. Questions? Call 202.272.2448.

Photography is permitted in the Great Hall only. No photographs may be taken in any exhibitions.

The National Building Museum Shop—voted the "Best Museum Shop in DC" by The Washington Post—has a range of unique gifts, housewares, and books. Members receive discounts and special shopping privileges. The Museum Shop is open Monday—Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Select merchandise may also be purchased at the Museum Shop. 

Café

With seating located in the Museum’s magnificent Great Hall, the café operated by Firehook Bakery and Coffee House offers a variety of gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads, baked goods, and beverages.
