APTA, the American Public Transportation Association, is proud to be the lead sponsor of the National Building Museum’s exhibition Green Community. This exhibition illustrates what is possible and what is already happening in communities around the country and the world to create a more sustainable future. 

APTA is a nonprofit international association of more than 1,500 member organizations including public transportation systems; planning, design, construction and finance firms; product and service providers; academic institutions; and state associations and departments of transportation.

APTA members serve the public interest by providing safe, efficient and economical public transportation services and products. APTA members serve more than 90 percent of persons using public transportation in the United States and Canada.

For APTA, Green Community aptly illustrates that an essential part of a green community is how people move within it. Green communities are built to allow for sustainable mobility – they are walkable, cyclable and are easy to get around by public transportation. APTA looks forwards to working with the National Building Museum and its partners to make communities greener.
