Architect Samuel Mockbee has earned national recognition as the director of the Rural Studio in remote Hale County, Alabama, where he trains Auburn University architecture students to design and build homes for the county’s poor residents. In his presentation, Mockbee discusses the Rural Studio, his design philosophy, and several of his own residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
