Camp hours are Monday-Friday 9 am-3 pm. Early drop off (included) is from 8:30-9 am. Optional Extended Care is from 3-5:30 pm (additional fees apply).

ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS
JULY 10-14

Are you an aspiring artist or designer? Spend five days learning about famous architects and the buildings they designed. Think like a designer to create original works of art inspired by architecture, or even create architecture inspired by art! You might try you hand at mosaic, painting, printmaking, or clay – the choice is yours! This program is designed for campers entering grades 3 and 4 in the fall and includes some off-site trips.

ANIMAL ARCHITECTS
JULY 17-21

Animals are some of the world’s greatest architects and many build their homes without any help from humans. Learn about animal-builders like beavers, honeybees, and birds, and explore the ways they build their homes and habitats. Even build a habitat of your own! The group will take a trip to the O. Orkin Insect Zoo to meet some real critters, and visit the Butterfly Pavilion. This program is designed for campers entering grades 3 and 4 in the fall and includes some off-site trips.

BRIDGES AND SKYSCRAPERS: ENGINEERING MARVELS
JULY 24-28

Put on your engineer’s hat and get ready for 5-days of investigation into the tallest towers and longest bridges. Learn about the forces that work to keep these marvels standing, then create and test your own designs. Can your skyscraper withstand extreme weather? Can you design a bridge that can support the weight of the campers on your team? Try all this and more! This program is designed for campers enter grades 3 and 4 in the fall.

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at the National Building Museum? In this jam-packed week, you’ll get to explore fun exhibitions and participate in building activities and art projects designed especially for you! Take an exclusive tour to see the things the Museum collects, explore all the nooks and crannies of our historic building and attend a VIP party inside the 2017 Summer Block Party installation. This program is designed for campers entering grades 3 and 4 in the fall.

THE ARCHITECTURE OF PLAY
AUGUST 7-11

Do you have a favorite playground that you go to all the time? Have you ever wanted to design your own? You will spend five days learning how architects design spaces for kids to play in – you’ll even get to test out play spaces in Washington, DC. Back at the Museum, you will work to design your own imaginary park or playground for your community. What would you include? Have fun spending a week exploring with your friends. This program is designed for campers entering grades 3 and 4 in the fall and includes some off-site trips.

AUGUST 14-18

Experience the world of architecture through play! Using building toys such as LEGO, Lincoln Logs, fort builders and more, you will get to build models structures like actual architects. Compete in design challenges, build a tall tower out of bricks, design a special space for you and your friends, and more. If you enjoy tinkering with toys and love building with bricks, then this is the program for you. This program is designed for campers entering grades 3 and 4 in the fall.
