Birthday Party Policies and Guidelines
Cancellation and Rescheduling
To be eligible for a refund, minus a $25 administrative fee, or to reschedule a birthday party, the Museum must receive a written request no later than three weeks prior to the confirmed date. If a program is canceled due to inclement weather, the Museum will reschedule the program or provide a full refund.
Party Guidelines
Party Schedule:
The birthday party program will last two hours and include:
- 30-minute welcome activity and building orientation
- 60-minute hands-on program and project
- 30-minute period for birthday celebration
The Museum staff who facilitate the party are flexible and will work with you to adjust the schedule for latecomers and other needs.
The Museum provides:
- A Museum teacher to lead the party.
- Supplies for each child to create a hands-on project (excluding the Block Party and Brick City Party).
- Exclusive use of a classroom starting 30 minutes before the party start time and ending 15 minutes after the party end time.
- The Museum will provide a safety lighter to light the birthday candles. Please do not bring matches.
- One 5' round table and chairs will be provided to seat every 6-7 children. One additional table will be provided for refreshments.
- Party favors for each child (Sticker/activity book, crayons, and hat). Brick City parties also include a Mini LEGO® kit. If you would like to provide goody bags or any additional favors, you can bring those and stuff them with the Museum-provided items before the party begins.
- Museum t-shirt for the birthday child.
- One parking permit for the party host on the day of the program. The parking permit will be available from the Museum teacher when you arrive at the Museum.
- Complimentary exhibition tickets for all child guests and their parents for use immediately following the party.
Party Hosts' Responsibilities:
- Set up: please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled party to set up any food or decorations.
- The party host, or an adult designated by the host, is responsible for the children at all times.
- Refreshments including birthday cake. We recommend that you keep food preparation simple: snacks, cake, and drinks.
- Plates, utensils, cups, and napkins.
- Tablecloths for 5' round tables.
- Decorations. Please plan accordingly and keep decorations simple. Tape will be provided to attach decorations to the walls. No noisemakers, balloons, or piñatas are allowed in the Museum.
- Clean and vacate the classroom 15 minutes after the program finishes.
- Invitations. On your invitations, please encourage your guests to arrive on time so the party activities can begin promptly. Guests should check in at the Information Desk to be directed to the correct room. Parking is not provided for guests.
Please Note:
- No noisemakers are allowed in the Museum.
- No balloons or piñatas are allowed in the Museum.
- In order to expedite the security check, the Museum advises that participants bring gifts in bags rather than wrapped so guards can see the contents.
- Party guests' parents are welcome to stay and participate in the birthday party with their children (no adult fee).
- No refrigerator or freezer is available. You are welcome to bring a cooler.
- No alcoholic beverages are allowed.
- The Museum does not advise ordering pizza or other food deliveries. Food deliveries cannot be delivered directly to the classroom. If you would like to provide pizza or food from a restaurant for the party, please pick up the order.
