Eric Tamulonis
Eric Tamulonis, ASLA, LEED®AP, is focused on shaping public open space and educational campuses. His work at WRT blends across scales from region to site, in locations from dense cities to remote landscapes. Using an approach called parks without borders, he seeks to ensure the vitality of parks and their surroundings by integrated ecology, history, and contemporary urban dynamics, connecting across spatial, natural, and temporal boundaries. The firm’s body of park work includes over 200 assignments across the country, reaching 25 of the nation’s top 50 cities, as well as many significant ecosystems.
Tamulonis’ recent work on federal, state, and municipal projects includes National Park Service units in New York City and West Virginia, new state parks in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and, in Louisville and Birmingham, two of the largest new municipal parks currently under development. His work has received multiple awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects, as well as the National Park Service’s Designing the Parks program. Tamulonis also consults with colleges, universities and schools, developing campus master plans and designs that connect students to nature.
Tamulonis holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Pennsylvania State University. He has spoken nationally on the subject of parks without borders, the phenomenon of megaparks, and the use of physical design to foster ecoliteracy.
