Designing Homes and Neighborhoods for an Aging Population

Nancy LeaMond, executive vice president of AARP’s State and National Group, leads government affairs, public education, and integrated legislative and educational campaigns (including You’ve Earned a Say, AARP’s national initiative to engage Americans in the debate over Social Security and Medicare) for AARP's social change agenda. Nancy is also responsibility for AARP’s state operation, which includes offices in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Ms. LeaMond is a member of the AARP executive leadership team. She began her tenure at AARP in 2001 as director of international affairs.

During the Clinton administration, Ms. LeaMond served as the chief of staff and assistant U.S. trade representative for congressional affairs at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). Prior to entering the trade field, Ms. LeaMond worked extensively on health care and pension issues, beginning her career in the Public Health Service, the Medicaid program, and the Department of Commerce.  

Ms. LeaMond holds a bachelors degree from Smith College and a master’s degree in public policy and urban planning from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is a member of the Centre for Development and Population Activities Board, and a member of the KB Home National Advisory Board on home and community development.
