Designing Homes and Neighborhoods for an Aging Population

Christine M. Nocar is vice president of construction management for National Church Residences, the nation’s largest not-for-profit developer and manager of affordable senior housing. Since joining National Church Residences in 2005, Ms. Nocar has been responsible for leading and directing all construction projects (including interior design and resident relocation efforts). She has successfully managed $326M in new-build, rehabilitation, and historic restoration projects totaling nearly 8,000 units in 23 states and Puerto Rico. Through her leadership National Church Residences is proud to have received five certified LEED for homes ratings—two Platinum and three Gold-rated projects.

Prior to joining National Church Residences, Ms. Nocar was with The Ohio State University Office of Facilities, Planning and Development where she was responsible for managing construction contracts on two of the university’s campuses. Her teaching affiliations include Southern California Institute of Architecture (SciArch) where she was a studio faculty member from 1996-1998, as well as, The Ohio State University, Knowlton School of Architecture, where she was an adjunct studio faculty member from 1998-2000.

Ms. Nocar holds a B.A. from California Polytechnic State University and received her master of architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture. She is a registered architect and a LEED-Accredited Professional.
