Nick Grossman

Civic Entrepreneur, Technologist, and Urban Policy Consultant

Nick

Nick Grossman is a civic entrepreneur, technologist, and urban policy consultant.  As the director of Civic Works at OpenPlans, he oversees development of new products & initiatives around “open city” technology strategy, sustainable transportation, and local civic engagement. His team has recently developed technology projects with the cities of Atlanta, Boston, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC, all with a focus on open source software and open data.

Nick joined OpenPlans in 2006 to launch Streetsblog.org and Streetfilms.org, now two of the country’s most read media outlets covering urban transportation. Prior to his tenure at OpenPlans, he worked as design director for a public health- oriented web startup, as an independent web designer and developer, and as an urban planning consultant.

He is also the co-founder of Civic Commons, a new initiative that facilitates the sharing of technologies among governments, and an advisor to Code for America.  He holds a degree in Urban Studies from Stanford University.
