Lucy G. Barber is the author of Marching on Washington: The Forging of an American Political Tradition. She has conducted research in the collections of the National Archives, Library of Congress, Howard University, the Historical Society of Washington, and the National Park Services' National Capitol Parks headquarters. Highlights of her research included meeting with Wilma Waters of Wenatchee, Washington who had traveled to Washington in 1932 as the wife of the leader of the Bonus March. She studied history at Haverford College. She received her Ph.D. in 1996 from Brown University and joined the faculty of the history department University of California, Davis.
