Jane Weinzapfel is principal and co-founder with Andrea Leers, of Leers Weinzapfel Associates, a nationally acclaimed Boston-based practice.
Jane has special expertise in award-winning infrastructure and transportation design, including chilled water plants, and operation control centers for transit and roadway systems, commuter rail, trolley, and rapid transit stations, bus stations, parking structures, and pedestrian bridges. She is also a design leader in campus academic facilities including the nationally awarded MIT School of Architecture and Planning, the World Media Culture Center at The Ohio State University, and the recently completed and award-winning University of Connecticut two-building classroom and administration complex. Currently, Jane is working on the East Regional Chiller Plant for The Ohio State University.
Jane holds Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arizona College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. She taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture and Planning, and taught as a visiting faculty member at the University of Arizona College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, where she was on the Dean’s Advisory Committee. In 2002, she was a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome. Jane’s work and achievements have been recognized with the Boston Society of Architects Award of Honor. She lectures widely throughout the United States and the Middle East.
Jane is a Board of Overseers member and former Trustee of The Boston Architectural College. She was a board member and past president of the Boston Society of Architects. She is a Trustee and Former Board Chair of Boston by Foot. She frequently lectures and serves as juror for the American Institute of Architects Design Awards programs. She has served on the Mayor’s Boston Transportation Advisory Committee and the Mayor’s Government Center Plaza Task Force in Boston, MA. Ms. Weinzapfel also served on the Massachusetts Executive Office of Community Development Designer Selection Board.
