Ian Cheney
Ian Cheney grew up in New England and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yale University. After graduate school, Ian directed the short documentary Two Buckets, which was broadcast on WGBH-Boston in 2006. He co-created, co-produced, and starred in the feature documentary King Corn, which was released theatrically in 50 cities and broadcast nationally on PBS in 2008. He directed the feature documentary The Greening of Southie, which was recognized with awards or nominations from The Fledgling Fund, Reel Earth, Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival, and the Sonoma County Environmental Film Festival; and is currently the outreach producer for Kaiulani Lee’s film A Sense of Wonder about Rachel Carson. Ian’s films have been distributed internationally in France, the UK, Israel, Poland, and Japan. He is a contributing blogger for the Huffington Post, and has appeared on CNN, CNN-International, Fox News, ABC’s Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer, NPR’s On Point with Tom Ashbrook, and NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered. He lives in Brooklyn, NY and is currently producing a feature documentary about light pollution and the disappearance of starry skies, entitled The City Dark.
