The National Building Museum’s Board of Trustees Elects Whayne S. Quin as Chair
Washington, D.C.—On October 1, 2012, Whayne S. Quin begins his three-year term as Chair of the Board of Trustees at the National Building Museum, succeeding Michael Glosserman, who is completing his second term as Chair. Mr. Quin has been Chair-Elect since January 2012. He has served as a Museum Trustee twice, from 1992 until 2002, and again since 2005.
Mr. Quin is a partner at the law firm of Holland & Knight LLP. He practices in the area of municipal law with special focus on land use entitlements and strategy for real estate development primarily in the District of Columbia. His clients have included real estate developers, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, financial institutions, chanceries, international and national agencies, and other property owners. Nationally, Mr. Quin has been a consultant to the private sector in the fields of land use, historic preservation, housing, and building related matters.
In response to a question about his vision for the Museum, Mr. Quin replied that “under its congressional charter, the Museum has the unique role of educating the national public about the built environment, which leads to the opportunity to bring together all sectors of the building industry to help meet current and future needs of our society. I look forward to these exciting challenges."

Mr. Quin is a graduate of Vanderbilt University (B.A.) and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia. He has been active in the community, having served as Chairman of Children's National Medical Center, President of Friends of the National Zoo, and a Director/Trustee of Safe Kids Worldwide Limited, the Federal City Council, and the Greater Washington Board of Trade as well as other charitable/community organizations.
