Spotlight on Design Lecture with Bjarke Ingels of BIG/Bjarke Ingels Group
National Building Museum Presents Groundbreaking Architect on October 18
WHAT
The National Building Museum presents Bjarke Ingels, Danish architect and founding principal of the BIG/Bjarke Ingels Group, in a Spotlight on Design presentation.
Ingels presents his firm’s work, which includes a combination ski slope and waste incineration plant in Copenhagen, a torqued-pyramid apartment building for New York City, and a three-dimensional neighborhood in the shape of the number “eight.” Ingels explains his design philosophy in which quality of life does not need to be sacrificed when pursuing environmentally responsible ideals. For Ingels, the two issues coexist and make for interesting and innovative architecture. This lecture is co-presented with the Embassy of Denmark.
