WHAT
Lecture: John Ochsendorf discusses the history of Guastavino vaults, which employ terra cotta tile and mortar to form self-supporting arches and domes. Guastavino vaulting is both visually and structurally appealing, and the lecture will take place in the National Museum of Natural History’s Baird Auditorium, a spectacular example of Guastavino vaulting. This lecture is presented as a collaboration between the National Building Museum and the Smithsonian Institution’s Architectural History and Historic Preservation Division. 1.0 LU (AIA)
