Assistant Manager

Visitor Services Department

 
The Museum seeks an individual to join the Visitor Services team to assist the Museum's Visitor Services Manager and Operations Coordinator in all aspects of Visitor Services. The Assistant is responsible for assisting the Visitor Services Manager with managing the part time Visitor Services Representatives who either work at the Museum’s Information Desk, Admission Sales Desk, and/or in the Museum galleries, and the management of their time and shifts as exhibitions open and close. The position requires the Assistant to aid in the training of new staff and assist in the development and implementation of programs for the Visitor Services Department. The applicant will also act as a back-up systems manager for the Museum's programs, galleries, and Great Hall operations; coordinate with the Museum's Operations Coordinator with the planning and managing of building needs; and provide logistical support for public events, which includes operating audio/visual equipment. The applicant should have a Bachelor's degree, museum and office management experience, a mechanical and audio/visual aptitude, computer competency, strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to take direction and deliver instructions effectively, and ability to perform heavy, physical work.
