Director of Youth Education
The National Building Museum seeks an inspirational and motivated leader to direct a team that conceives, organizes, presents and evaluates the Museum's full range of programming for youth and families, including school, outreach, and family programs.

The position directly supervises four staff who in turn manage four full-time and approximately one dozen part-time staff members. Each year, the Museum attracts approximately 45,000 young people and family members to some 1,200 programs. 

Candidates should have a solid background in design education, staff management, teaching, project management and strong interpersonal skills. Teach About the World We Create!
The Museum seeks applications for part-time Museum Teachers to work either during the weekday or the weekends for 10 - 20 hours a week.  The National Building Museum offers approximately 1,000 original educational programs for school, scout, and birthday parties. Qualifications include: 1) degree in education, museum education, or teaching certificate and/or two or more years experience teaching in a museum or classroom; 2) excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills; 3) flexibility and enthusiasm for working with children; 4) knowledge of architecture, design, civil engineering, and the built environment is a plus, as is scouting experience. Volunteer Manager

Imagine, Explore, Educate.
The Museum seeks to fill a fulltime position for a Volunteer Manager to manage and operate the museum's volunteer, tour, and intern program.  This position oversees over 300 volunteers, 150 docents, and on average 20 interns throughout the academic and summer months.  The Volunteer Manager is in charge of creating and leading all docent trainings for the museum's bi-annual docent training as well as all exhibition docent trainings.  A background, or demonstrated interest in a Museum environment; 3-5 years experience in managing a volunteer and intern program in the building arts or museum field is required. The Museum seeks to fill multiple positions for Visitor Services Representatives to perform overall Visitor Services duties which include the daily monitoring and care of the Museum's exhibitions and galleries and interacting with the public to ensure that the visitor experience at the Museum is productive, informative and enjoyable. You will be asked to work in a variety of locations including the exhibition galleries, the Information Desk and the Reception Desk. The Visitor Services Representatives are the primary communication channel between the Museum, its members, and the general public. A background, or demonstrated interest, in a Museum environment, the building arts or museum studies is desired. Applicants should be reliable, flexible and personable; posses strong communication and interpersonal skills; exhibit professional manner and dress at all times; have reliable transportation; be responsible and trustworthy; able to work as a team player; uphold the mission of the Museum; abide by the stated rules, regulations and procedures of the Museum. Weekend, holiday, and occasional evening shifts are required.
