The Museum seeks applications for part-time Museum Teachers to work either during the week or weekends for 10-20 hours a week. Available shifts include: Monday-Friday 9:30 am-12:30 pm and 12:30-3:00 pm, Saturday 9:30-12:30 and 1:00-4:30, Sunday 1:00-4:30 pm. The National Building Museum offers approximately 1,000 programs for school, scout, and birthday parties every year. Qualifications include: 1) flexibility and enthusiasm for working with children; 2) excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills; 3) degree in education, museum education, or teaching certificate and/or two or more years experience teaching in a museum or classroom; 4) knowledge of architecture, design, civil engineering, and the built environment is a plus, as is scouting experience. The Museum seeks to fill multiple positions for Visitor Services Representatives to perform overall Visitor Services duties which include the daily monitoring and care of the Museum's exhibitions and galleries and interacting with the public to ensure that the visitor experience at the Museum is productive, informative and enjoyable. You will be asked to work in a variety of locations including the exhibition galleries, the Information Desk and the Reception Desk. The Visitor Services Representatives are the primary communication channel between the Museum, its members, and the general public. A background, or demonstrated interest, in a Museum environment, the building arts or museum studies is desired. Applicants should be reliable, flexible and personable; posses strong communication and interpersonal skills; exhibit professional manner and dress at all times; have reliable transportation; be responsible and trustworthy; able to work as a team player; uphold the mission of the Museum; abide by the stated rules, regulations and procedures of the Museum. Weekend, holiday, and occasional evening shifts are required.
